Windows/Mac/Linux (All platforms): Songbird, the cross-platform, open-source music manager long in development, has reached its first beta release, 0.7, code-named "Fugazi." New to this version are an interface overhaul with drag-and-drop capabilities, Last.fm and smart playlist capabilities, improved cataloging and playback speed, and better album art support. If you're not familiar with the 'bird, it supports a bunch of add-ons, uses the plays-anything back end of VLC media player (in the Windows and Mac clients), imports and updates with iTunes databases, and is built around the idea of keeping your music free and accessible. It's not bug-free, but it's getting closer to fully functional.
