Steve Jobs is "back to work," says Apple
Apple has confirmed that Steve Jobs is back at work on a somewhat reduced schedule. Jobs is now working on Apple's campus for a few days per week and making up the rest of the time while working from home, a spokesperson told various press outlets today. "Steve is back to work. We are very glad to have him back," spokesperson Steve Dowling told Bloomberg.
The news comes just a week after reports spread about Jobs being spotted back on campus. Soon after that news broke, a hospital in Tennessee confirmed that Jobs had received a liver transplant earlier in the year. This explained his earlier problems processing proteins and his ultimate decision to take a six-month medical leave from the company.
Apple had stated earlier this month that the CEO was still expected to make a timely return at the end of June, despite months of speculation that Jobs might not ever come back. We're glad that Jobs has managed to prove the rumor mill wrong this time around, though COO Tim Cook has proven himself quite capable of running the ship in Jobs' absence and may end up taking on more responsibility at Apple as a result.
